Bravenet provides 50mb free web hosting with ftp access and site building scripts. In exchange for the free hosting, they display advertisement son your site. Bandwidth is capped at 1.5gb traffic which is very easy to eat through if your site contains many images, flash games or downloads. Users can upgrade their accounts for about $9 / month.

1.5 gb traffic really isn't enough unless your ISP doesn't provide any hosting space and you just need a little corner of the net. If you want to pay go with hostdepartment.

Search for consumer reviews in forums before joining any host - not expert reviews on websites. Most of them are paid commission.

I have tried many of hosts.

Bravenet is really not that bad for free hosting.
I agree with the other guest that host department is good for a cheap shared host. So is hostmonster.
If you want reliability Crystal tech servers are far more responsive and reliable, but more expensive.
If you want a VPN go crystal tech or hostmysite.com.
I dont reccomend jodohost, godaddy or hostgator.
