I believe the grand prize is real - but this site is definitely a for profit venture. I think that everyone becomes a finalist and they try to sell you a finalist plaque and a very expensive hard bound poetry book with your poem in it. It might be cheaper than trying to publish your poem yourself - but it seems off to me. Still worth putting your lot in for $10k though.

I've my doubts, too. I recently entered a contest for $25. I later learned that the winner had writtten "a complete?? manuscript on the lives of kitchen utensils", so my advice is, if they want you to pay, just go away.
