Free Software Site

This used to be the absolute best freeware / shareware resource. It is now pretty commercial and primarily lists crippleware and demos in the PC sections - but still has come great freeware. The linux category has more true freeware and open source products than the PC section. Many of the tucows download mirrors are on major networks hubs - so if you should be able to take advantage of broadband bandwidth if you have it.

This hits the nail on the head. Tucows isn't as good as it once was but it the download speeds are fantastic. Sometimes the software listed is not the latest version. Always verify that first.
